BYD will launch luxury brands on November 13, 2026 to establish its dominance in the Indian market given the growing appeal of electric cars and the government's inclination towards EVs. BYD will focus only on premium electric cars. It is going to launch its luxury car brand Danza in India. Although the company has not yet officially announced which models will be launched in India, it is expected that the initial models may include the Denza D9 luxury MPV and the Denza Z9 GT electric shooting brake. What's so special about Danza D9? The Denza D9 will come in the luxury MPV segment. This could attract customers who want more space, comfort and a premium feel in a larger car. It is expected to be priced between Rs 85 lakh and Rs 90 lakh (ex-showroom) in India. Battery, power and range According to available information linked to global models, the D9 is expected to pack a 103kWh battery. It may have a front-mounted electric motor, which produces a maximum power of 313hp and a peak torque of 360Nm. It has a claimed WLTP i.e. Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure range of 520 km. However, the battery, power and range of the model coming to India are yet to be officially confirmed. Which car will collide? If the Denza D9 arrives in India with similar potential pricing, it could compete with luxury MPVs like the Toyota Wellfire and the MG M9. Space, seating comfort and premium features play an important role in customer decision making in this segment.
